The government told us Brexit would save money by not having to contribute to EU funds. We learn today HERE that an additional 8000 people are being recruited to be in place by the end of next year, which will cost half a billion pounds annually I assume. This does not include staff for all of the new agencies we will need to recreate after we leave. If we are able to become or continue to be members of existing EU agencies (Aviation and Maritime safety for example) we will need to pay towards the running costs, and probably at a higher rate than we did as members. It looks like there won't be much left out of the £7 billion net that we pay into the EU.
