GOING BACKWARDS IN ROMFORD

There was another coincidence yesterday in the publication of two articles in separate newspapers. The Independent HERE had a report about Romford, said to be the most Eurosceptic town in Britain apparently. A year after Article 50 was triggered, there is no sign of any change of mind but the comments below the report, especially from those who know Romford, are not particularly flattering about the population. A pair of near euphoric elderly ladies told the reporter they had voted leave because, “We remember the old days.”

Meanwhile over at The Guardian (HERE) they were looking at eleven broken promises (so far) of Brexit, with quotes from some of the leading Brexiteers, compared to what has actually happened. It includes comments like this one from John Redwood, "Getting out of the EU can be quick and easy – the UK holds most of the cards". Even the PM seems to be admitting Brexit is more complicated than they first thought - always assuming there ever was any thinking done about Brexit of course - when she gave evidence to the Commons Liaison Committee recently.

What does this tell us? Brexit is the ill informed blindly leading the wilfully stupid backwards to the unattainable along along a very hard and dusty road paved with broken promises
