MRS MAY - NO CHURCHILL

This article (HERE) by Shanker Singham is a bit rich. He says Mrs May could be the Churchill of our times (you can see what a fantasy world he lives in) as she steers the country through what he calls these "perilous" times. Perilous is a good word. It means to be "exposed to imminent risk of disaster or ruin". Why are we in peril? Because we voted for Brexit, not thinking we would be in peril - which Brexiteer told us that? No, we were told life would be better, immeasurably better. And Singham was one of the people who campaigned vigorously for Brexit.

Now he tells us we're exposed to the imminent risk of disaster or ruin - as remainers said we would be.

Mrs May is no Churchill.  He would have told us the unpalatable truth. Leaving the EU is not going to solve anything and will only make matters worse. He would have faced down Farage, et al and would never, ever have contemplated Brexit.

She has apparently told EU leaders (HERE) that Europe must "stand together" in the face of the Russian threat. This will sound very hollow coming from a country that has just decided to stand apart and become separated from the EU. British newspapers have been full of vitriolic attacks on the EU for thirty years or more. Pygmy politicians like BoJo, Duncan-Smith, Patterson, Gove are constantly attacking the EU but now they're silent while the PM begs for help.

What would the pro Brexit press say if the boot was on the other foot? If the EU was asking for our help. One can imagine the kind of jingoistic headlines in The Sun: Up Yours Tusk! Not on your Nellie Juncker!

But now we expect them all to jump to our request. And amazingly, they have.
