The Express (HERE) and other newspapers (HERE) are carrying a report of something that happened in the European parliament this week. Frans Timmermans, the second-in-command to EU Commission president Jean-Claude Juncker, said the UK reminds him of the Black Knight in the legendary comedy film Monty Python and the Holy Grail.
Apparently, Mr Timmermans is an Anglophile and likes our sense of humour, particularly Monty Python. How humiliating it is that we should be compared to someone so totally defeated but unable to admit it. It is more painful for being true. We are a laughing stock.
