ABOUT US

We are just ordinary citizens who voted to remain in the 2016 EU referendum. We accept the outcome but as Nigel Farage himself said (see HERE) before the vote, “In a 52-48 referendum this would be unfinished business by a long way”.

The result was actually even closer at 51.8% to 48.2% so we also regard it as unfinished business and we intend to campaign to see the United Kingdom once again a full member of the European Union.

It is not in the great democratic tradition of this country to have a free vote and then expect the losing side to immediately change their passionately held opinions to those of the winning side.  A socialist does not become a conservative or a conservative socialist after a general election. Moreover, we listened for many years as UKIP and others criticised the EU. We respected their opinions even if we thought they were wrong.

Now we expect no less from those who voted leave. It is our right and duty to speak out and say what we believe. This is what we intend to do as the slow motion, geopolitical earthquake that is Brexit unfolds and risks breaking the nation, making us poorer, weaker and less secure.

THE FUTURE

I believe Brexit is going to come. Indeed it must come. Nothing less will be able to convince those who voted to leave the EU that we were actually better off inside the largest, closest and richest trading bloc on earth. The economy must take a bit of damage. But we do need to begin now the long hard road to obtain a new referendum as soon as politically possible to take us back in. The annual increase in younger people joining the electorate and being far more pro-EU than older voters will bring about a balance quicker than we might think.

But we can help things along. When the impacts of Brexit on our economy become clear we should write to newspapers to point out where the blame should go. Not to those who voted leave but to the others, those who recklessly urged them to cast a vote that was patently against the voter's own best interests.

MPs like Nigel Adams, who supported Brexit said many things in parliament and outside during the campaign. There are easily available websites including Hansard (HERE) where you can search by MP to see every utterance they made in the house. Also, their own websites are full of remarks that you can use to embarrass them. All MPs are hypocrites, you couldn't work in parliament unless you can say one thing and do another. So, they have all said things at some time which you can use - with the benefit of hindsight - to point out to their constituents via the newspapers where they were wrong. In this area we are in a strong position, it is the MP who has to defend their record and that record is available in minute detail.
