HANNAN - AGENT PROVOCATEUR?

Daniel Hannan has an article in Saturday's Telegraph HERE urging MPs to reject the deal when it comes back to parliament next week or the week after. He is absolutely excoriating about it and calls upon MPs, "who believe that there is such a thing as national honour, and who recognise that we are being treated in a calculatedly vindictive way" to "toss it out with especial force".   As usual with Hannan it is all the EU's fault. They can do no right.

HANNAN IS BECOMING PARANOID

Daniel Hannan has a typical article on Conservative Home HERE attacking Barnier and the EU. He thinks they are deliberately and with malice, punishing us for wanting to leave the EU. For Hannan of course this is perfectly normal. He has a sort of paranoia, an irrational fear that every other country in the world is out to 'get us'. So, his article, especially on the CH website would not normally be newsworthy, but it is for one thing and that is the reaction of readers.

HANNAN AND INTRA-EXTRA EU TRADE

Daniel Hannan is supposed to be the thinking man's Brexiteer. He writes on Conservative Home HERE and is highly critical of May's deal, which he thinks is the wrong way round. We should stay out of the customs union and keep in the single market he says. There may be a grain of truth in this but it doesn't solve the Irish border problem and he talks as if we can just pick and choose as we like. He ignores the EU totally as if they're simply a passing stallholder with an array of goodies on offer.

HANNAN - SCAREMONGERING BOOTS ON THE OTHER FOOT

Daniel Hannan is warning that a Corbyn government could turn the UK into Venezuela (HERE) - I think he's worried that Labour might steal a march and turn us into a basket case before the Conservatives. During and after the referendum when any sane voice raised risks around Brexit we were told it was scaremongering or project fear. But now Hannan, the half wit's Brexiteer, is surely indulging in exactly the same thing although he isn't sufficiently self aware to notice.

HANNAN - NO PROPHET

The idiot Hannan must have been totally spaced out or completely paralytic when he penned this piece (HERE) in June 2015 for The Telegraph about what Britain would look like in 2020. To say it's Utopian is to make Utopia seem like the Caliphate under ISIS. It's a glowing picture of life in a country that nobody over the age of seven would find even close to believable. If it was a PR exercise he would have had the Advertising Standards Authority down on him like a tonne of finely chiselled York stone blocks.

HANNAN ON TRADE

Daniel Hannan is one of those dangerous Brexiteers who goes around spouting all sorts of rubbish as if it was received wisdom and sounding plausible at the same time. He has a piece again on Conservative Home (HERE) about trade liberalisation being the true prize rather than trade deals. Like many of his arguments it contains a few grains of truth. He is not an economist but claims sufficient expertise to expound at length on the subject.

DANIEL HANNAN - MORE RUBBISH

Forgive me for writing twice in one day about Daniel Hannan but he always provides rich pickings. He's written a piece for Conservative Home (HERE) where he claims that calls by Labour for us to remain in the customs unions would result in a worst-of-all-worlds Brexit because we would be stymied over future trade deals while having no influence over the EU's trade policy, but still subject to it.

DANIEL HANNAN - IN A WORLD OF HIS OWN

Two days before the referendum in 2016 Daniel Hannan, the urbane, if slightly dotty MEP and advocate of Brexit wrote a forward looking article (HERE) for a website called Reaction about the land of milk and honey that Britain, freed from the malevolent grip of Brussels, would become by 2025. It's one of those articles that would normally cause the writer to emigrate to a remote island, grow a long beard and disappear from view altogether - out of sheer embarrassment.

THE BREXIT MADHOUSE

The other day, I watched a Daily Mail Columnist, (I didn't catch her name) talking with Polly Toynbee on The Daily Politics. She dismissed the idea that voters didn't know what they were voting for in the referendum on Brexit. Yet in the same week we had an example of prominent leavers disagreeing with each other on what Brexit should be. This is nearly two years after we actually voted.

HANNAN

I like to keep a record of the more outrageous hostages to fortune uttered by the pro Brexit simpletons like Daniel Hannan (HERE) on Britain joining the Trans Pacific Partnership. Of course, he thinks it's a great idea and sets out cogent reasons why he thinks we should develop closer ties in Australasia, mostly because the area is growing faster - at the moment.

DANIEL HANNAN - SERIAL FANTASIST AVOIDS REALITY AGAIN

Daniel Hannan, the arch Brexiteer, was on Channel 4 News yesterday and spouting the usual nonsense. He said the British government had published position papers on variety topics, include the Irish border, in "granular detail". I doubt if one person in a hundred listening to him would have read any of the papers and would believe this was true. It isn't. The Irish border paper is a typical example. It simply sets out some principles and nothing else.

HANNAN, JOHNSON AND THE IFT

Daniel Hannan, through his launch of the Institute for Free Trade (HERE), is enthusiastically calling for us to become a sort of Singapore. A low tax, low regulation, tariff free trading area. He was accompanied by Boris Johnson and the launch was from a Foreign Office building in a calculated rejection of official policy. What Johnson was doing was obvious. He wants to be fired so he can challenge May for the leadership.

MORE DANIEL HANNAN NONSENSE

Daniel Hannan has a piece in Conservative Home setting out twelve principles to unite leavers and remainers. It almost looks as if he really wanted to stay in the EU himself even though he campaigned vigorously to leave and has been an advocate of Brexit for years. His principles are remarkably simple and it's hard to discern in them any reasons for leaving the EU. I just give his headings below with my comments but you can read his full article HERE.

DANIEL HANNAN AND IMPORTING FOOD

Daniel Hannan makes some startling assertions from time to time but this weekend in The Telegraph (HERE) he claims we should "embrace depending on the rest of the world for our food". How the farming community and Julian Sturdy, MP for York Outer and farmer will take this I don't know. They are calling for more home grown food so that we are less reliant on overseas suppliers.
