CHARLES MOORE

Charles Moore, as we know, is a dyed in the wool Euro sceptic, former editor of The Telegraph and biographer of Margaret Thatcher. Also a very stupid man. He has supported and encouraged Brexit from the very beginning although of late he has been highly critical of what the PM brought back from Brussels. For him Brexit doesn't mean Brexit anymore. He has now realised that Theresa May and him were not only singing from different hymn sheets, they were not even in the same church. He has taken to urging Brexiteers to vote against the deal whenever he can. Quite a turn round.

THE DELUDED MR MOORE

Charles Moore is one of the many self-appointed political Brexit commissars in the media, always watchful for any unbrexit thinking or signs that 'enemies of the people' are thwarting the will of the seventeen million rosy cheeked artisans who voted to leave the EU. In his mind Britain is like something out of a 1930s Soviet poster where a promised Utopia risks being snatched away by the devious bourgeoisie, a group of which he is a highly privileged member although he doesn't seem to realise it.

CHARLES MOORE DISPARAGES THE FOREIGNERS

I caught a part of a Radio 4 program on Friday called As Others See Us, by Neil MacGregor OM. A lady Indian academic was talking about the way modern Indians sees us in different ways. Having been part of the British Empire for example, and using English as one of the official languages as well as potential future trade and Brexit of course. You can hear the programme (HERE). It's one of a series.

SHIFTING OPINION

Those of us struggling to shift opinion on Brexit shouldn't let our spirits drop. Sometimes it seems as if we are fighting for a lost cause or yesterday's war. But I know we are on the right side of the argument and eventually we will succeed. I liken it to trying to shift a heavy weight or turn a heavily rusted bolt. At first nothing seems to happen. You begin by using the obvious means, testing how heavy or tight things are to get the measure of the problem. One solution after another comes and goes without success but then, almost imperceptibly, you start to feel a bit of "give" - or do you? It's so tiny you think you're mistaken but no there is a tiny movement.

CHARLES MOORE

I think I finally understand Charles Moore's sometime bizzarre utterances on Brexit, of which he has long been a champion. He thinks we're still living in 1776! In his column this week (HERE) he is harking back to the declaration of independence as if the globalised, interconnected and rules based world we live in never happened. To Madcap Moore one imagines he thinks we are still able to build empires with a few wooden sailing ships, barrels of gunpowder and cannons. We can impose our will on a lot of backward people around the world by force of arms, according to his sort of thinking.

BOJO - STILL PLAYING THE FOOL

I am beginning to worry about Boris Johnson's sanity. He has a piece in today's Telegraph (HERE) setting out his "ten point plan for a successful Brexit". It is so childish it looks like he wrote it under the influence of drink or mind altering drugs. The very first point is to spend the £350 million a week saving from our EU contributions on the NHS! This is from our foreign secretary writing in a supposedly serious national newspaper. No sane, sentient human being in this country now believes this figure for a second, but Boris is still talking as if it's going to happen! The full 4000 word article is HERE

CHARLES MOORE AND ENERGY COSTS

Charles Moore, writing in The Telegraph this week calls on Mrs May to send a "wind of change through the great environmental debate" and says we should go back to what he calls "good old fossil fuels". This is on the basis of us importing from other "less squeamish countries countries the high energy produced goods that we used to make ourselves".
