Andrew Percy, MP for Brigg and Goole, asked a written parliamentary question on July 15th about the Steel Industry. Bear in mind that parts of Scunthorpe and the steel works are in his constituency. It would be very odd if at least some of Mr Percy's 86,000 constituents didn't work at the plant where the majority of British Steel's 5,000 workers are employed. The plant is going through a process of compulsory liquidation at the moment as we know.

ANDREW PERCY - BREXIT'S WHITE VAN MAN
Brexit certainly throws up some strange things. Andrew Percy, MP for Goole, was a fervent Brexiteer, or so I thought. In 2016 he was at the forefront of the Leave campaign urging local people to vote to leave the EU alongside Nigel Adams. But he now seems to have got cold feet. The bold global trading freebooter is beginning to look more like a nervous stall holder on Goole market selling a few jars of home made jam.

PERCY IN LA LA LAND
For those with a quirky cast of mind, an important question was raised in parliament the other day by our local Goole MP, Andrew "Simpleton" Percy and this will perhaps be a matter of intense interest to them. While we here on earth are filling our heads daily with the practicalities of Brexit, fearful of what it might mean for the future of our children, Mr Percy, who as you know campaigned relentlessly to leave the EU, has left Brexit far behind.

ANDREW PERCY AND CETA
One of our locally elected idiots, Andrew Percy, has been speaking in the debate on the Trade Bill. You can read it (HERE). Percy was one of the leading Brexiteers, urging people to vote leave against their own best interests, the exact opposite of what an MP should have been doing. However now that the government is stumbling forward to wherever Brexit is taking us he is starting to ask questions. This week he asked the Trade Secretary, Liam Fox, this:

ANDREW PERCY
My mother would have described Andrew Percy, MP for Goole, as "dim as a Toc H lamp". The fool from Goole has been submitting written questions on foreign direct investment (FDI) and what the government was doing to encourage it (HERE) and (HERE). There is a certain almost delicious irony to him asking the government such a question.

ANDREW PERCY WINGS IT AS USUAL
Andrew "thicko" Percy the fanatically anti European and xenophobic MP for Goole, who I have posted items about previously has been surprisingly quiet after the referendum and even more so since the election this year when he lost his junior ministerial position, although I'm not altogether surprised at that since has described himself as "not the brightest individual". You can say that as again.

ANDREW PERCY AND CANADA
Andrew Percy seems to be fixated on Canada for some reason and is once again asking questions of ministers in The House (HERE) about out trading relationship. Listen to this from the other day when he asked Alan Duncan, Minister of State at the FCO:

THE FOOL FROM GOOLE
Andrew Percy, MP for Goole has returned to the back benches after a brief (very brief!) spell as a junior minister. He asked a couple of questions the other day about Canada (HERE). He wanted to be reassured that "until we achieve our freedom, the provisions of the trade agreement secured with Canada will be implemented fully in the United Kingdom, and that we will continue to play a proactive role within the EU and beyond in encouraging further free trade with Canada?".

ANDREW PERCY AND EU RULES
In a debate about the steel industry on 28th October 2015 (HERE Column 373) Andrew Percy spoke about the risk that thousands of jobs in the UK steel industry would be lost. The Conservatives were coming under pressure to offer some sort of state aid to counter the cheap imports coming in from China.

ANDREW PERCY AND THE PATRONISING GUFF
Andrew Percy, apparently got an email in 2011 saying an EU referendum shouldn't be held and was asked, jokingly, if it had come from a Conservative whip. Mr Percy answered:
"No, it was a constituent who informed me that we could not have a referendum on the European Union because the people do not understand the arguments—the usual patronising guff that comes from pro-Europeans" (Hansard Column 193 HERE).

ANDREW PERCY AND THE SCOTTISH REFERENDUM
I used to wonder why Andrew Percy, MP for Goole, didn't seem to put much stuff on his website about the EU even though he is an ardent Brexiteer. I now realise he reserved most of the rubbish he wrote on the subject for The Scunthorpe Telegraph. There is quite a vein of nonsense to be tapped there but I want to look at some of the things he said on the eve of the 2014 Scottish independence referendum (HERE).

ANDREW PERCY AND THE WHITE COMMONWEALTH
If one wanted to get inside the thinking of some of the more violently Euro-sceptic MPs you could hardly wish to find a better example just before Hansard Column 799 HERE on 1st February 2011 during a debate on some clauses of the European Union Bill that was passing through the house.
