The Telegraph is reporting (HERE) that the PM has said she will not compromise on Brexit and leaving the single market and the customs union are still her aims. This is fantasy now I am sure. The Labour party's manifesto says they will prioritise jobs and the economy during the negotiations (HERE) and I am certain this has been carefully crafted to give them the option of remaining in.
Meanwhile the ex PM, David Cameron, in a speech in Poland (HERE) is saying Theresa May must consult other parties. He joins a growing band of people who are urging a soft Brexit (HERE).
I honestly do not see that there is anywhere near enough votes in either house to pursue a hard Brexit. Even those MPs who were reluctantly supporting leave must be rethinking their position in the light of the election result. As time goes on the weight given to the 2016 referendum must begin to reduce and the government, as shaky as it is, will have to see if opinion on Brexit is shifting or risk a landslide against them.
