BREXIT WILL BE FAR WORSE THAN PREDICTED And the Conservatives will pay the price

Steve Bullock, a former EU negotiator, has written an article for The Guardian (HERE) where he says the outcome of Brexit is going to be far worse than anyone could have guessed. I confess as time has gone on and the issues raised have become more complicated and new ones that nobody had previously considered emerge, I tend to think he is right. In fact, after Brexit almost nothing in Britain will remain the same and since the human condition is genetically designed to resist change, even where some or even most people yearn for it, this is a recipe for social unrest.

So, it was with this in mind that I read a piece (HERE) quoting a senior unnamed cabinet minister who thinks Brexit is heading for disaster. The Conservatives have a choice, he says, between destroying the country by going ahead or destroying the party by calling a halt to Brexit. This is I think a false choice. In truth if Brexit does damage the nation, as I believe it will, the Conservative party will be destroyed anyway. In other words, unless someone unpicks the Gordian knot that is Brexit, the party is finished  - whatever happens  - as I predicted HERE
