The fact that prominent anti Brexit MP Nicky Morgan has been elected to chair the Treasury select committee (HERE) tells us a lot about the sentiments of our MPs. The party allegiance of Chairs is decided by The Speaker and the Treasury committee, because of it's importance, was always going to be a Conservative. Had Labour won the most seats a Labour MP would have been required. All MPs are allowed to vote in a secret ballot.
The choice was apparently between Jacob Rees-Mogg and Nicky Morgan. The fact that an arch Brexiteer lost is as telling as the fact that an arch remainer won. It is clear that a majority of MPs are either remainers or support a very soft Brexit. It bodes well for us.
