THE CABINET

I thought it would be useful at this crucial point in our island's history (July 2017) to make a record of who is in the cabinet at the moment. Brexit has all the makings of a total shambles. The prime minister is weak and has no majority, only the DUP is keeping her in power. The cabinet is divided and some, or perhaps even most, of them are either political lightweights (Jeremy Hunt, Alun Cairns, Priti Patel, Sajid Javid, etc) or complete idiots (Gove, Johnson, Fox, etc). They are squabbling among themselves about what the aims and goals of Brexit actually are.

Brexit has been compared to the moon landings or world war II in complexity. The difference between those great events and now is that they had real leaders, clear goals and a team of united men and women, with the help and advice of experts, all determined to succeed. We have a bunch of lightweight chancers, idiots and selfish political non-entities.

We can only hope out of these twenty three men and women there will rise a leader (Hammond?) who will be able to convince his or her colleagues, plus a majority in parliament and in the country that Brexit will inflict great damage on the country and there are no gains or at least none that are worth the sacrifice.  These are the people at the helm

They will not be able to avoid the blame (or the praise) or say we didn't know what we were doing. Let us not forget who they are. History will judge them.
